Your Consultation

During your visit to my East Malling clinic, I will conduct a private consultation lasting 60 to 90 minutes. Initial consultations are in-person only and cost £75. If you feel you would benefit from a consultation, please visit my booking form.

What does the consultation consist of?

A guide to your visit with Invicta Trichology in East Malling, Kent. Individual experiences may vary.

1. History

The first section of the consultation will involve asking questions about your medical and family history, your hair history, and your general health and wellbeing. We will also explore further into your hair or scalp complaint to try and determine the potential causes and effects.

2. Examination

In addition, I will likely need to conduct a physical examination of your hair and scalp, either by hand or with the help of a dermatoscope. The dermatoscope is a small hand-held tool that can magnify areas of the scalp to help identify diagnostic markers; the live images will be fed through to a separate screen and viewed for analysis, which you are more than welcome to view.

3. Discussion

Upon completion of examination and exploration, I will discuss my findings and offer my diagnosis based on all the available information. At this stage, I will explain what the condition is, identify potential contributing factors, and offer a formulated plan for your next steps, plus answer any questions you may have.

4. Treatment Plan

Some additional next steps may involve a treatment plan or referral to a healthcare professional such as a GP or Dermatologist, depending on your diagnosis. If I feel your complaint would particularly benefit from some trichological treatments, you will have the option of having your details shared with a local Trichology treatment clinic who can create a bespoke treatment plan and monitor your progress. If I feel your complaint requires intervention from a healthcare professional, you will be referred directly to a relevant expert who will take over your case and provide the correct assessment and treatment.

FAQs

Do I need to bring anything for the consultation?

If you have access to any recent blood test results from your GP, or private clinic, this can be a useful tool for diagnosis but it is not mandatory. You may wish to bring any medications you are/have been taking or any supplements, and any hair or scalp products you are currently using or have been advised to use.

Is there parking available?

Yes, there is free on-site parking just a short walk away from the clinic. Please check the location section of the website for a map of the site layout.

Does my hair need to be clean?

I prefer if patients do not have freshly washed hair for at least 24 hours before they visit the clinic, as this can often mask some of the conditions and prevent an accurate diagnosis. Try to be mindful that I can only help if you can show me the problem at its most prevalent. Aside from shampooing, it is also preferable if you can keep your hair free of oils or hair styling products when attending the clinic.

Is the clinic accessible?

The building has a couple of small steps at the entrance, and the clinic is on the first floor with no lift access so we are mostly restricted to stair use. However, I do have access to a shared ground floor meeting room which I can use for the purpose of consultation should I require. If you feel this is something you would need please let me know on your booking form.

Are there toilet facilities?

Yes – there are toilets on the ground floor of the clinic building, plus additional toilets in the on-site cafe, “The Orchards Cafe”, situated halfway between the visitors car park and the clinic building. There’s food and drink available to purchase in the cafe if you do wish to pop in!
