My Hair Loss Story

At the age of 12, I was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata after my family noticed a large bald patch on my crown. At the time, alopecia was seemingly scarcely heard of in some corners of the medical world, and had it not been for my hairdresser referring me to a Trichologist I potentially would not have received a proper diagnosis nor the treatment that I needed to rehabilitate my hair. The helplessness and lack of control experienced at the hands of hair loss, at a turbulent time in my life when everything seemed to be spiraling out of my control, was a difficult emotion to navigate but stands as a testament to my character to this day.

Qualifications

Fast forward to 2021, I decided to apply to a 3-year course in Trichology with the Institute of Trichologists (IOT), from which I graduated with a Pass with Distinction in October 2024. During this time, I met with and treated a number of patients, along with lots of other like-minded students who have gone on to create some wonderful enterprises and help so many people. I am proud to say that completing this course, whilst juggling full-time employment, is probably my biggest accomplishment to date.

Trichology had been there for me when I needed it most, so now it is time for me to give back to the Trichology community.
